EVENTS
Established by Maniharsha Jyoti in the 1960s. Over the generations, the group has grown by leaps and bounds. Today, it has emerged as an industrial and trading powerhouse, bringing in its wake economic development for the entire nation.

Maniharsha Jyoti was born on December 5th, 1917.
1917

During his stay in Kalimpong, Bhajuratna (Maniharsha Jyoti’s father) was known as Syamu Karpu (white cap) by the Tibetan traders in the region.
Maniharsha Jyoti established Bhajuratna Maniharsha Joti, Jyoti Brothers and Bhajuratna Investment companies for doing business in India, Nepal and the Tibet.

1961
Himal Iron & Steel was established in Parwanipur, Parsa. Nepal’s first iron and steel factory. This was the start of Jyoti Group.
1965
Bhajuratna Engineering & Sales established in Birgunj, Parsa, with the distribution of Massey Ferguson , TAFE tractors in Nepal
1967
Himal Cement established in Chobar, Kathmandu, Nepal’s first cement factory.
1967
Jyoti Group begins importing Honda motorcycles to Nepal.
1970
Laxmi Glass established in Hetauda, Makwanpur, Nepal’s first glass factory.
1970
Jyoti Nursery established in Parwanipur, Parsa, to take advantage of the agriculture market in Nepal.

Nepal Steel established in Parwanipur, Parsa, a foundry.

Syamakapu International established, to take benefit of the trading opportunities in the recently opened Tibet Region of China.
1972
Himal Oxygen established in Parwanipur, Parsa, Nepal’s first gas factory.

Bhajuratna Engineering & Sales starts distribution of BOC India in Nepal.
Bhajuratna Engineering & Sales starts distribution of The Asiatic Oxygen & Acetylene Company and Usha engine, and pump sets in Nepal.

Syakar Company established, with the distribution of Honda motorcycles in Nepal.

The Roof of The World Manufacturing Company was established in Tibet & China, a wool scouring factory.
Bhajuratna Engineering & Sales starts distribution of Ashok Leyland commercial vehicles in Nepal.

Himal Wires established in Parwanipur, Parsa, Nepal’s first wire production factory.

Syakar Company starts distribution of Hero Honda motorcycles in Nepal.

Suruchi Travel & Tours established in Jamal, Kathmandu, to take advantage of booming tourism in Nepal.
Syakar Company starts distribution of Philips audio-visual products in Nepal.

Bhajuratna Pharma established, with the distribution of Sarabhai Chemicals, Baroda India in Nepal.

Bhajuratna Engineering & Sales starts distribution of ESAB in Nepal.
1992
Jyoti Spinning Mill established in Parwanipur, Parsa, Nepal’s first spinning mill operated by the private sector.
1993
Maniharsha Jyoti passes away on January 16th,1993.

Jyoti Group invests in Butwal Power Company (BPC).
1994
Jyoti Yarn Processing established in Parwanipur, Parsa, to provide dyeing services for the spinning mills.
1995
Bhajuratna Finance and Savings established, to provide financial services in Nepal. Currently named Lumbini Bikas Bank.
1996
Jyoti Group invests in Sagarmatha Insurance Company which started its operations in 1996. Currently named SALICO.
1997
Bagmati Carpets was established, to take benefit of the carpet export opportunities in Nepal.
1998
Shangrila Fashions was established, to take advantage of the garment export market in Nepal.

Himal Ceramics established in Panchkhaal, Kathmandu, a terra-cotta tile factory.

Janak Syakar Textile established in Parwanipur, Parsa, a polypropylene tape and rope factory.

Bhajuratna Engineering & Sales starts distribution of Fenner in Nepal.

Syakar Company starts distribution of Honda Cars in Nepal.

Syakar Safety Riding Training Center begins operation in Gwarko, Lalitpur.
Syakar Company starts distribution of Philips domestic appliance, personal care and Philips Avent (baby products) in Nepal.

Nepal General Marketing established, with distribution of Hero MotoCorp motorcycles in Nepal.

Jay Spinning Mills established (acquiring all assets of Jyoti Spinning Mills).

Jyoti Group invests in Grande International Hospital, which started its operations in 2012.
Grande City Clinic and Hospital established in Kantipath, Kathmandu.

NGM Engineering & Sales established assembly plant to assemble Hero MotoCorp motorcycles.

Syamakapu Trading established, with distribution of Electric One scooters in Nepal.
