In the 1940s, Maniharsha Jyoti established commercial enterprises to explore the trading opportunities in Nepal, India and Tibet (now Tibet Autonomous Region of China). He established offices in Calcutta, Kalimpong and Lhasa. From selling coin mint metal scraps from Pharijong, Tibet to selling abandoned and used World War II vehicles from the jungles of Assam and Burma, he pursued challenging trade prospects. After two decades, he returned to Nepal with his vast experience in the trading business, to plant the trade roots of Jyoti Group.

Today, Jyoti Group has established its foothold in the trading business with Bhajuratna Engineering & Sales Ltd, Syakar Company (P) Ltd, Bhajuratna Pharma (P) Ltd, Nepal General Marketing (P) Ltd and Syamukapu Trading (P) Ltd.
